Using safety equipment while applying chemicals is crucial for safeguarding both the cosmetologist and the client. Each piece of equipment serves a specific purpose in ensuring safety during chemical applications.

An apron protects the skin and clothing from chemical spills, minimizing the risk of irritation or damage. A face mask is essential for preventing inhalation of potentially harmful fumes or particles, especially with strong chemicals that can emit vapors. Gloves create a barrier between the skin and the chemicals, preventing absorption and protecting against skin irritations or allergic reactions.

When all three types of equipment—apron, face mask, and gloves—are used together, they provide comprehensive protection. This layered approach to safety is standard practice in the beauty industry to mitigate risks associated with working with chemical products. Therefore, wearing all of the above equipment is the best practice to ensure safety during chemical applications.
